Nicobar Pigeon
Pigeons, like doves, belong to the Columbidae family. In larger proportions, they are sometimes referred to as doves. Pigeons are mostly bred for meat. Squab, or young pigeons, is the most common and nutritious source of this flesh. Pigeons have contributed much to humanity, particularly as messengers during times of war and conflict.
This next pigeon on our list is definitely one of the most striking birds we have seen so far. This is the Nicobar pigeon, a bird found on small islands and in coastal regions from the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, India, east through the Malay Archipelago, to the Solomons and Palau. Its colorful palette of feathers will definitely capture your attention.
