Major Mitchell’s Cockatoo
This may come as a surprise to some but the parrot family is composed of some birds that do not have the ability to talk like the other ones. One prime example is the cockatoo. Still, a properly raised, socialized and trained Cockatoo makes a wonderful companion at home. Cockatoos are noted for being very sweet, affectionate birds, which makes them great pets.
The next subject of this photography is one of the most known types of cockatoo – the Major Mitchell’s cockatoo, also known as Leadbeater’s cockatoo or the pink cockatoo. It is a medium-sized cockatoo that inhabits arid and semi-arid inland areas of Australia, though it is seen regularly in other climates, like subtropical regions. Its most distinct characteristics are its pink head, neck, and underparts.
