Budgerigar (Parakeet)
Talking birds, despite being common, are still very fascinating to us when we meet one. The most known of this kind is the parrot, which is also known as a psittacine. They have roughly 398 species found mostly in tropical and subtropical regions of the world. The most common parrots are macaws, amazons, lorikeets, lovebirds, cockatoos, and many more.
One of the lesser known talking birds is the Budgerigar, or more commonly known in American English as parakeets. They are a small, long-tailed, seed-eating parrot that usually goes by the nickname of ‘budgie’. It may come as a surprise to some but some budgies have been known to develop a vocabulary of hundreds of words.
