Orange-Bellied Parrot
Parrots are a group of birds composed of roughly 398 species. They are found mostly in tropical and subtropical regions. One-third of all parrot species are on the verge of extinction, with higher aggregate extinction risk than any other comparable bird group. Characteristic features of parrots include a strong, curved bill, an upright stance, strong legs, colorful feathers, and clawed zygodactyl feet.
The next subject of Leila’s bird photography is this orange-bellied parrot, a small parrot endemic to southern Australia, and one of only three species of parrot that migrate. This is an adult male because of its bright grass-green upper parts, yellow underparts and orange belly patch. This little guy looking up will probably be the cutest thing you’ll see today.
