A man by the name of Hippolyte Bayard claimed to have invented photography. Still, seeing as Louis Daguerre excelled at the French Academy of Sciences, he took offense to Bayard’s statement. In response, Bayard put this photograph out along with the statement, “The corpse which you see here is that of M. Bayard.” And that, ladies and gentlemen, is how the hoax was born…
