#31: First Female Prime Minister of the UK
Say what you will about Margaret Thatcher, but there’s no denying that she’s the first woman to become Prime Minister of the UK. The politician served as Prime Minister from 1979 to 1990. She was nicknamed “The Iron Lady” due to her uncompromising leadership style and unsympathetic political positions. You have to be tough if you’re the first woman to do anything in a predominately male field.

In addition to being the first woman, Margaret Thatcher was also the longest-serving Prime Minister of the 20th century. Her politics and policies were so distinctive that they have been dubbed “Thatcherism.” Despite being a polarizing historical figure, there’s no denying that Margaret Thatcher made history with her long and accomplished career.
