#28: The First IVF Baby
Modern medicine has brought many new methods for families to conceive and start families. In-vitro fertilization is one of the most commonly used techniques to help people who may have fertility problems or barriers. When IVF came onto the scene, it was a big deal. Lesley Brown became the first person to conceive a baby through IVF on November 10, 1977.
Lesley’s baby, Louise Brown, was born in England on July 25, 1978. Louise became the first baby to be conceived through IVF. Louise was considered a medical marvel. A British television network even made a documentary about Lesley and Louise, titled To Mrs Brown… A Daughter. Louise’s birth is considered by many to be one of the major medical breakthroughs of the 20th century.
