#21: The First Woman Self-Made Millionaire
The American Dream is still something that a lot of people believe in. So many people have dreams of becoming self-made millionaires. Many of them try to achieve that dream by starting their own business. Sarah Breedlove, also known as Madam C.J. Walker, did just that when she started her own haircare line centered around Black women.
Walker’s successful business led her to become the first self-made female millionaire. She was not born into wealth and privilege, making her hard work and success all the more precious. She used her wealth and success to help and support her community and other African American women. She was a big philanthropist and provided scholarships to female students at the Tuskegee Institute.
