Wage Deception
This next story includes a potentially great wage countered with one that potentially wouldn’t even cover the bills. When this person accepted the job, they were promised $17 an hour. However, on their first day, it was switched from $17 to $7. How did they think they could get away with that?

Well, their reasoning was that although the base wage was $7, the weekly tips would bring it up to $17 an hour. Obviously, tips aren’t guaranteed, and a slow night could easily keep the wage at $7 all day long. This person realized that and, rightly so, decided not to stay to see if the tips really were that good.
