Neither a Fighter Nor a Trouble Maker
”As a college student, I was required to attend a criminal trial as part of a class assignment. I chose to attend the trial of a former classmate who had been charged with robbery and murder. He had beaten his elderly neighbor to death with a wooden dining room table leg. The day I attended the trial, I was struck by the graphic testimony given by a blood spatter expert. He went into incredible detail about the number of blows, the role of velocity and gravity, and who was where during the incident.”
”It was fascinating to watch but also incredibly disturbing. I couldn’t believe that someone I had gone to middle and high school with was capable of such a violent act. In the end, he was convicted and sentenced to over 80 years in prison. It was a surreal experience to witness the justice system in action and to see someone I knew facing such serious consequences for their actions.”
