Fred West
”Fred West did my aunts artexing. No joke. He was known as a handyman in Glasgow, and he also owned an ice cream van. He told my aunt all about working in the van and stuff, and she remembered he had a strange accent (he’s from the midlands, I believe, and we’re in Glasgow). My cousin has this joke that he is a victim of Fred West because when he rolls over in his bed, his hand scrapes off of the artexing, like Fred West did that to him.”
Fred West and his wife Rosemary were responsible for a series of horrific murders in Gloucester, England, in the 1970s. West was known by his friends and neighbors as a seemingly normal guy who was friendly and helpful. He was a skilled handyman and even did odd jobs for his neighbors. Together, the couple was responsible for the torture, rape, and murder of at least 12 young women and girls, many of whom were buried in the basement of their home.
