#44: Stay Where You Are, Lake Superior
We really like to think that there’s a whole lot of fundamental meaning to the arbitrary topographical and geographical features formed at this particular stage in our planet’s history, as if the division of land into continents, countries, seas, and oceans is some eternal truth that can never be changed.
However, it’s important to remember that the Earth is changing all the time; land masses are shifting incredibly slowly, and oceans are reacting accordingly. Maybe in the not-so-distant future, America really will be underwater, but what right does Lake Superior have to store enough to cover it?
