#6: Don’t Forget Who You Are
We see our voices as something purely ours, integral to who we are. It’s just like our shoe size, handwriting, or favorite food – always the same and completely unchangeable. We can’t forget our own voices in the same way that we can’t forget our own personalities or our Social Security numbers.
Even if, for some people, changing their voices is part of the job description, it still seems crazy that they could get stuck with someone else’s. I suppose I do know people whose accents have changed permanently after a prolonged time in a different state or country; maybe it’s the same for mimics and their voices.
