18. Time to Leave the City
The expectations are there, maybe a quaint Texan charm or a hidden cultural gem. Instead, the reality is sometimes a relentless sprawl of strip malls and chain restaurants, an endless parade of commercial uniformity.
As if the area had taken the concept of American consumer culture and decided to dial it up to eleven, creating a setting so devoid of uniqueness it might border on the surreal. The experience less of a ‘quaint getaway’ and more ‘dive into the depths of suburban sameness.’ There are some amazing parts of Texas, and sadly, some less.
