Wait, What Happened?
We’ve talked about how nice it is to have something mindless going on in the background so that you can do something else at the same time, but sometimes that backfires. Sometimes, you are confident that you know what’s going on in the show but you are utterly wrong, and you look up from the article you’ve been reading or the laundry that you’ve been folding, only to realize that the show has taken an unexpected turn and that you are now completely lost.

What’s most embarrassing is when you rewind a little to see how the show got to this point, only to get bored while you wait for the pertinent plot point to come up again, so you get distracted with your phone or laundry, only to miss the twist when it arrives. I have been guilty of having to skip back three or four times before I actually pay attention enough to figure out what’s going on.
