That’s Harsh, Netflix
Oh, the “Still watching?” message. I’m sure that Netflix is trying to be helpful by checking whether you’re still there, so that it doesn’t waste your Internet bandwidth and your electricity to keep showing a show when you long ago fell asleep on the couch. But all the same, it’s hard not to feel judged by that message, as though Netflix is exclaiming in disgust, “You’ve been at this for five hours! Are you sure you want to keep going?”
But sometimes, the message might compel you to keep watching when you hadn’t planned to otherwise. It might remind you that without the show you’re watching, your house will become quiet and empty, with nothing and no one to keep you company. At times like these, I might recommend going outside and taking a walk.
