The Selection May Be Lacking
There’s an inevitable disappointment that comes to everyone who decides to subscribe to a streaming service. I remember going through this phase of life myself. Netflix was full of movies we could watch at the touch of a button. It was going to replace video stores. We were no longer going to need our own DVD collections. So that must mean that it was going to have every movie we wanted to see, right?
Absolutely wrong. The disappointing realization that we all come to eventually is that no one streaming service is going to have every movie we want to see. Especially now, as streaming services proliferate, the movies that we want to see might only be on a weird streaming service that a movie studio created for its own catalog. And I can’t be paying $10 a month for every single streaming service that comes my way. So instead, I have to live with the disappointment of knowing that even with my Netflix subscription, I’m still going to have to rent movies occasionally.
