#9: No RSVP?
Unfortunately, this person’s family is well-versed in the workings of the prison system. They shared that if a family member doesn’t RSVP or show up for Thanksgiving or Christmas dinner, they automatically check the inmate records at the county jail in their area. They do this because of past experience. It’s happened before.
Back in 2016, the OP’s brother didn’t show up to Thanksgiving dinner. They checked the public inmate records and immediately saw their unique last name on the roster. It turns out it wasn’t the brother this time, but the uncle. No one ever found out where the brother was that year, and he won’t tell, which frankly sounds suspicious. What could be worse than jail? The OP’s family seems tight-knit. We hope that one year everyone shows up and there’s no unexpected jail time.
