#10: Turkey with a Side of Racism
Blending two families is always a little awkward. This person was invited to their in-law’s Thanksgiving dinner and took their mom along. It was a big dinner, with many of their spouses’ extended family members in attendance. Everything was going fine until their mom decided to start a conversation.
She tried to kick things off with the famous last words, “I’m not a racist but…” which ALWAYS goes over well. In case you don’t know, if you start a sentence with “I’m not a racist BUT…” we promise you that 99% of the people around you will automatically suspect you’re racist. So just don’t say that. Their mom was not invited back to Thanksgiving dinner ever again.
