Surprisingly, this guy was an ex of the storyteller’s cousin. The guy was considerably younger than the sister-in-law’s mom, so the fact that he had dated a 20-something cousin in the family wasn’t out of the left field. They had broken up a few weeks ago, so the mom was apparently a rebound. His presence must have made for some interesting conversation around the dinner table.
