#24: What Women Want
My grandmother was a schoolteacher her entire life, and I don’t know if she ever truly enjoyed it. She picked that field because, as she told me, when she was going to college, girls either became teachers, nurses, or secretaries, and she didn’t want to be a nurse or a secretary.
In a lot of ways, society has improved. But in others, it feels like we’re still stuck in that same ridiculous mentality, with backwards ideas about what women can and cannot do. Maybe, hopefully, by the time our grandchildren are grown, we will have figured it out.
