Things That Have No Reason to Exist in Our Society But Inexplicably Still Do

It seems like there have been a lot of improvements over time in the way that we perceive children and look after them. It wasn’t that many decades ago that many children were working for their survival in appalling conditions, never able to get an education or reach for anything better, because there weren’t yet laws to protect them.

So, in this, we have come a long way. But in other ways, we still have some really weird ideas about what is appropriate for children! Making them dress up in fancy gowns and pounds of makeup and parade around on stage is somehow still allowed. I’m going to go ahead and say that beauty pageants as a whole shouldn’t be a thing, especially not when kids are involved.
