#8: The World’s Largest Wombat
This is Patrick, the world’s oldest and largest wombat. He died in 2017 at the age of 31 – which is equivalent to 130 in human years. If that still doesn’t mean much to you, the average wombat lives 15 years, so Patrick certainly broke an impressive record. Patrick was the most famous animal in the Ballarat Wildlife Park in Victoria, Australia, and was adorned and mourned by the entire community.
As you can tell by the image, Patrick was also exceptionally large—but exactly how large? Apparently, he weighed 88 pounds (40 kg)! He was well-known not only for his shocking size but also for his warm, friendly personality. The staff at Ballarat Wildlife Park will always remember him.
