#16: Bear With Me
Bears and other animals are fascinating to watch on BBC shows and nature productions such as Planet Earth (an obsession of ours), but seeing them on our TV screen doesn’t reflect their actual size. It doesn’t even come close! Their paws are enormous, and their shaggy fur is thicker than you might think.
Male polar bears typically weigh around 550-1700 pounds (around 450 kilograms), up to three times as much as females. While they look very sweet on our TV screens, polar bears (like Grizzly bears and other bear species) are natural predators and can hunt people if other natural prey in the area is scarce.
