#4: King of the House
This is a Maine Coon, a cat breed famous for its size – and you can see why. As you might’ve guessed, the Maine Coon originated in Maine, U.S., and is one of the oldest natural breeds to originate in Noth America. It’s also the official state cat of Maine (did you know they have one?). It is the largest non-hybrid cat breed and weighs, on average, ten to fifteen pounds.
Despite its shocking size, the Maine Coon is also known as the Gentle Giant, thanks to his gentle, some would say dog-like characteristics. Unlike most cat breeds, the Maine Coon is very sociable and affectionate – a characteristic that’s often associated with dogs rather than cats. This gentle giant enjoys rubbing and cuddling and the company of people.
