Many societies seem to be moving farther and farther away from using cash, and I say good riddance. Cash takes up a lot of space. It makes your wallet hard to close. It leaves your pockets full of jangling metal. It’s easy to lose, and it’s probably filthy most of the time.
Personally, I can’t remember the last time I paid for something in cash. But there are a few places where technological holdouts make it necessary: certain laundromats, for instance, or, as this person pointed out, certain vending machines. Come on, vending machine people, get with the times.
