#20: Be Smart, Don’t Start
Friends, this next one really spoke to me. Maybe this is just me, but it absolutely blows my mind when I see a young person smoking. Old people? Sure. They probably started smoking at a time when the risks were not widely known and tobacco companies were allowed to do whatever the heck they wanted.
But these days, the risks of smoking are widely publicized and taught in every school. Tobacco companies can no longer advertise with impunity. And smoking has even stopped being portrayed as cool in TV and movies. So why in the world would someone start smoking? What makes an otherwise sane person say, “You know, I’d really like to waste a lot of money so that I can eventually die of cancer”?
