#49: Boys Don’t Cry
There are plenty of double standards when it comes to boys and men showing emotion. One guy pointed out how it’s viewed as normal for women to cry, but it’s viewed as weak when a man does it. This attitude is changing, but not fast enough. We are all human, and crying is a normal part of the human experience. To say that half the population shouldn’t cry is totally toxic and unrealistic.
Also, how often do you see male kindergarten teachers? whenever you think of a kindergarten teacher (or hear of one), a woman comes to mind. Women are not necessarily more emotional than men, they’ve just been socialized to show more emotion in some cases. And women aren’t necessarily better caretakers.
