#26: Green Light, Red Light… Gaslight?
Gaslighting is a huge buzzword right now. So what is it? Gaslighting is a form of manipulation that can be found in abusive relationships. It’s basically when someone twists a narrative and makes their target question themselves, their memories, and even their perception of reality. It isn’t only found in romantic relationships. Gaslighting can happen with a friend, family member, or even coworker.
As you can tell from the definition, gaslighting is totally not a great way to treat someone. A lot of women have been coming forward and talking about their experiences with men who have gaslit them in the past. It’s not as widely talked about, but women can gaslight others, too. It’s not just men who are emotionally manipulating others. Just like any other form of abuse, it can happen to anyone and it’s important to watch for red flags in any relationship.
