#47: There’s No Shame in Asking for Help
This person is right- there’s a lot of stigma and prejudice when it comes to mental health, but not only for men. A lot of people, men and women alike, are reluctant to ask for help and turn to a professional when they’re suffering from anxiety or depression because they’re afraid of the stigma.
People who see a professional therapist might be considered “crazy” in the eye of society, as if there’s something wrong with them. The truth is, there is something wrong with them, and they need help to get through it- and there’s no shame in that. We’re only human and we all have our weaknesses. The only way to cope with them is to acknowledge that and share that load with someone.
