31. Forrest Gump (1994)
Forrest Gump is an interesting phenomenon. The book was not very successful when it was first published; it was critically panned and only sold an estimated 30,000 copies. After the film was produced and released, it leaped up in popularity and sold over a million copies.
The film that was adapted in 1994 differed greatly from the original novel, arguably making Forrest a bit more of a likable protagonist, among its other changes. It was a roaring success, winning six academy awards and awards in other film groups as well.
