27. Jaws (1975)
Jaws was published in 1974 by Peter Benchley and quickly became a bestseller, selling millions of copies in the second year of its publication. The producers of the movie each found their way to the book separately before they decided to make the film. Steven Spielberg was put at the helm as director.
With the mechanical sharks malfunctioning a lot, Spielberg came up with the idea to barely show the shark and let the music drive the suspense. With an iconic John Williams score, it would become the highest-grossing film until Star Wars in 1977. Both films would change the summer blockbuster scene ever since.
