#24: A Monocycle From the 1930s
Imagine a futuristic gadget straight out of a sci-fi movie: the monocycle. This motorized marvel, a sibling of the monowheel, was birthed in the late 19th century. Unlike the unicycle, where you perch atop, you’re nestled within the wheel or seated next to it.

There was a time when monowheels and monocycles were dreamt up as the future of transportation. But alas, their intriguing design was fraught with challenges. Their precarious balance obscured visibility, and the infamous ‘gerbiling’ risk became their downfall. Nowadays, these quirky contraptions are reborn as funfair attractions, adding a dash of vintage charm to our entertainment scene.
