#13: Milkmen in the 1960s
Once upon a time, the clinking of glass milk bottles was as familiar a neighborhood sound as the rustling of newspapers or the thud of mailboxes. In the vibrant era of the early 1960s, nearly one-third of American households preferred the quaint charm of having fresh milk delivered right to their doorstep, making milkmen a delightful and integral part of their daily lives.

As the times rolled on and fridges became a staple in every American household, the once thriving milk delivery industry began to wane. By 1975, the clink of glass milk bottles was heard in less than seven percent of homes. Fast forward to 2005, and this dwindled to a mere 0.4 percent! Nowadays, only a select few companies still brave the milk delivery frontier, keeping this charming tradition alive in the US.
