Before the dawn of traffic cameras, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey had a unique solution to tunnel patrol – tiny catwalk cars. In the 1950s, a fleet of enthusiastic catwalk cars debuted, boasting a dedicated track and the ability to zip along at up to 35 mph speeds.
