#25: It’s Not a Cry for Help
Mental health is a very sensitive topic; it’s important for people who are going through something or suffering from anxiety to know that they are surrounded by a warm and protective environment and that they have someone to turn to for help. It’s widely believed that people who harm themselves are only looking to get attention, and that has the opposite effect.
However, people who hurt themselves are very conscious of their wounds; they don’t do it to attract other people’s attention; on the contrary. They often try and hide their wounds. More often than not, the problem with people who suffer is that they suffer alone – they try very hard to hide their physical and mental suffering from their surroundings.
