People Share Unexplained Things That Happened to Them, and We’re Freaked Out

Having a stranger walk up to you and know your name is definitely weird, but the strangest part of this story is that this person simply walked away after asking for her name. You’d think whoever they were, they would want to hang back and chat a bit. Why would they approach her to ask for her name and then just walk away?

As for the identity of this stranger, they could have been a friend of the family or just an acquaintance of her parents; if she looks a lot like one of her parents or siblings, it may have been someone who’s heard of her and recognized her. But again, this doesn’t explain why they just walked away immediately after asking for her name.
