#8: An Icon in the Making
When looking at this photo, we see two men leaning over the recycling symbol and can’t quite decipher why they’re gazing at it so intently, with serious expressions on their faces. Are they trying to figure out how best to cut it out? I can understand that would be quite the dilemma.
No. In fact, the man on the right is twenty-three-year-old Gary Anderson, pictured here in 1970 as he is creating the recycling symbol. So, I suppose that does provide a certain justification for the intent gazes and serious expressions. What a legacy for this designer!
