#28: Don’t Mess with Mom
Women in law enforcement are still a relatively new development. Only really since the 1960s have women been welcomed on the force. They are still only relegated to traditional women’s roles and are still insubordinate to men. Women in law enforcement leadership were very rare in the 1980s.
This contributor was stunned to discover that their mother was a detective in the 1980s when such a role would have been unusual. Perhaps this discovery is even more fun because this woman’s children were all huge fans of the TV show Law and Order. However, they had no idea their mom was a real-life Lenny Briscoe!
