#7: Tank Instructor
Wow. How hardcore is this mom? You can see from this photo and the expression on her face that she was fierce and knew her business. You don’t often see vintage pictures of women in the military because they weren’t welcome for most of US military history. But today is a different story.
In fact, combat roles for women opened up in the US Army only a year before this photo was taken. This contributor’s mother was probably one of the very first American women to be a tank instructor. Hats, er, helmets off to her!
