The story behind this picture begins in Brooklyn. This contributor’s parents lived there in 1985 when this picture was snapped. New York City has always been home to immigrants from all over the world, and many of them found their homes in Brooklyn. Brooklyn made every person feel welcome, no matter where they came from.
However, this photo tells us more about life in Brooklyn in the mid-80s. Not only did immigrants and Americans from all walks of life find home and community in this city, but they lived together in harmony. Thankfully, some of them even fell in love.
