#16: That Makes Sense
Have you ever wondered where and when treadmills were invented? Of course not. Why would you? Apparently, they were invented over 200 years ago in England as a form of punishment. Originally, the treadmill was a prison rehabilitation device meant to cause the inmates to suffer.
The exercise treadmill was later invented in the U.S. to diagnose heart and lung diseases. We have to admit it makes sense that the treadmill was invented as a form of punishment; whenever I’m exercising on a treadmill (which isn’t too often), I find myself asking, ” What have I done to deserve this?”
