#35: “Genuine” Windows
Ah, the Windows operating system. In the 90s and early 2000s, every new release would require you to run out to Price Club and buy the set of CD-ROMs that held the key to this new piece of software. There was just one catch, though. Those things were expensive as heck! Back in 2002, you could “upgrade” to Windows XP for $99 or buy a new version for almost $200.
That’s quite a chunk of change! Obviously, people found a way around giving Bill Gates more of their money. Many of us may or may not perk our ears when we hear the words “genuine Windows XP.” We can neither confirm nor deny that there were (and are) mysterious product keys floating around the internet that allow free access to the famous Windows operating system.
