#30: SimCity
Before “The Sims,” there was “SimCity.” If you’ve always wondered if this retro video game was the predecessor of the now-famous life-simulator game, you’d be correct. “SimCity” was created in 1989 by Will Wright, the future creator of “The Sims” franchise. “SimCity” was a bit more basic, allowing players to build an entire city in the simulation game.

Just because the game was more basic didn’t make it any less fun. The hit video game lets players act as mayors of a virtual town, placing buildings, parks, and other infrastructure wherever they please. Unfortunately, this groundbreaking game is no longer in production. It went defunct in 2013 and now only lives on in the hearts of Y2K kids across the nation.
