The Stephen King and John Carpenter collaboration was so well anticipated that Stephen King hadn’t even sent Christine to production in print before the movie began filming. It was rated “R” solely to get people out to see it! The budget was $9.7 million ($27+ million today), and 15% of that was spent on cars.

For those who don’t want to math it out, that’s approximately $1.5 million. Of all the cars purchased, only two survived the film. Both versions of Christine are now in museums, beautifully restored and in mint condition. The house shown in the before and after photos was only used for the exterior house shots. A different place, two doors down, was used for the interior.
