#59: Not Acknowledging Celebrities
Many shows are based on real-life events and circumstances, including music, movies, clothes, shoes, and pop-culture references. This is to create connections with viewers and give them something to relate to as they deliver each character’s personality in the show. They want to make the show as realistic and relatable as they can.
Although when it comes to not paying recognition to a major celebrity in Friends, it makes for a humorous scene. For instance, in the episode where Joey and Ross are obsessed with Die Hard, viewers know and have seen that movie. When Bruce Willis comes on set, he is known as “Elizabeth’s Father,” while he’s actually the actor from the movie. Maybe they should’ve gone with a less famous actor for that role.
