#21: The Mary Tyler Moore Show
Mary Richards was an independent career woman navigating life and love in 1970s Minneapolis with a mix of grit and vulnerability. There were hilarious mishaps at WJM-TV, heartwarming friendships with Rhoda and Georgette, and Lou Grant’s signature grumbles. It was a truly revolutionary show for women at the time…
If you ask me, Rhoda was stunning, and I liked that about her character. So I found it really surprising to learn that the producers almost didn’t give Valerie Harper the part for that exact reason! Come on, too attractive? What does that even mean!? Glad they changed their minds.
