#33: The Wire
I am a massive fan of The Wire. I am like a broken record telling everyone to watch it. Seriously, you can ask my friends. Its incredible character development, its ability to make you empathize with the “bad guys” and sometimes hate the “good guys,” and its commentary on issues like crime, politics, and education make my favorite show ever.
This is largely because many of the cast and crew have a genuine connection to the content. To give the show a real feel, they cast real-life cops, politicians, and reformed criminals to play minor characters. This also led to some funny dynamics, like cast members working with people who had previously arrested them in real life.
