#20: Parks and Recreation
Parks and Recreation (colloquially known as Parks and Rec) captured the absurdity of small-town politics with such warmth and humor that it felt like spending time with a bunch of hilarious, strangely lovable friends. Whether it was “Treat Yo Self” days, Li’l Sebastian’s memorial, or Andy’s infectious goofiness, this show made me laugh until I cried.
I can’t imagine the show without Andy, and I guess the writers couldn’t either once they saw Chris Pratt playing him in a minor, nonregular role. I’m so glad they decided to write him a larger role and turn him into a regular on the show. The show always left me feeling strangely optimistic about the world.
