#8: Taro Pies of China
Taro is a tropical/semitropical plant that has been consumed for centuries. It’s a slightly sweet, starchy root, like a potato, with nutty characteristics. It’s also high in vitamins, which is why it has been a staple in tropical diets for a long time. McDonald’s decided to capitalize on this and made a sweet Taro pie available only in China.
The pie’s packaging is practically the same color as the filling. That’s definitely intentional. It makes the pie stand out even more and invites you to dive in for another bite, and possibly another pie. We think Taro needs to be planted in more places so McDonald’s can bring this pie to every single one of their restaurants.
